After 20 years with Omni Hotels & Resorts, CMO and Senior Vice President of Sales Peter Strebel was promoted to president, effective immediately.
Strebel succeeds Jim Caldwell, who served as president and CEO for the past year and chief executive since 2004. With Caldwell appointed executive vice president of TRT Holdings (Omni’s parent company), the role of CEO became unoccupied.
During his tenure at Omni, Strebel also served as senior vice president of operations for the brand, where he led the growing resort and convention center hotel portfolios, such as Omni Atlanta Hotel at CNN Center and Omni Nashville Hotel.
From 2001 to 2009, Strebel was executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Wyndham Hotel Group. He was promoted to president of that company before rejoining Omni later that year.
Strebel will now oversee the luxury brand’s growth and expansion plans. This year alone, the company will break ground on a 1,000-room hotel on the Boston waterfront in May and another in Oklahoma City, along with recently opening the Omni Louisville in Kentucky.
Strebel also sits on the board of directors for the Global Hotel Alliance.
