152 Million Americans Used Travel Insurance in 2014
A record number of Americans took out travel insurance in 2014, including trip cancellations, travel medical products, and other insurance programs, according to a report from the U.S. Travel Insurance Association. In 2014 alone, more than 152 million Americans spent over $2.2 billion on all types of travel protection, up 17.5% from 2012. The most popular form of insurance was trip cancellation/interruption coverage, which accounted for more than 85% of the travel protection products purchased in 2014. Travel and medical evacuation products accounted for 7% of the programs sold.
