Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground Getting New Cabins

Disney is making major changes to one of its most historic Florida resorts, the Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. The company this week announced plans to refresh the resort’s cabins and add them to the offerings at Disney Vacation Club.

The plans call for 350 new DVC cabins to replace the existing cabins at the resort. Disney says that each of the new standalone cabins will feature a separate bedroom, bathroom, bathroom, living room, full kitchen, and private patio and will be able to sleep up to six. Some of the cabins will also be dog-friendly.

Disney is planning on debuting the cabins in 2024 as the 17th Disney Vacation Club resort.

“For more than 50 years, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground has offered guests the opportunity to explore nature with their loved ones while staying in the heart of Walt Disney World Resort,” said Bill Diercksen, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Vacation Club.

“We’re excited to continue to build upon the resort’s rich legacy and elevate the cabin experience for our Members and all guests to enjoy for years to come.”

Fort Wilderness Resort originally opened in 1971. The resort sits on 750 acres of pine and cypress forest a boat ride away from Disney’s Magic Kingdom theme park. It includes the updated Tri-Circle-D Ranch, fishing outlets, walking trails, and outdoor pools. It also serves as the host of Disney’s Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue.

The new cabins aren’t the only update that Disney is planning at the resort—plans are also in the works for new expanded dining experiences at Trail’s End Restaurant and Crockett’s Tavern.
