G Celebrates Earth Day with Trees for Days

In light of Earth Day happening later this month, G Adventures is celebrating its three tree-growing projects around the world in Morocco, Madagascar and Sri Lanka.
Their Trees for Days’ initiative has grown over 3.8 million trees since its launch in 2023. In partnership with Planeterra, the project is designed to bring local communities into the climate and environmental crisis solution, powered by tourism.
“Unlike many tree planting initiatives, where saplings often don’t reach maturity, or local people do not see the benefit, Trees For Days brings local communities who are already suffering the impact of the climate crisis into the solution,” said Jamie Sweeting, President of Planeterra.
“We don’t focus on offsets, but instead commit to growing trees and crops that are specially selected for the region and community need, helping to regenerate the environment while providing income to communities at the same time – a perfect example of community tourism and environmental initiatives working hand in hand.”
Much more than just a tree-planting or carbon-offsetting scheme, Trees for Days not only helps protect the environment, it enables local people to create additional income and improve their livelihoods, often benefiting marginalised Indigenous populations, women and youth. Altogether, over 115,000 lives have been positively impacted by the programme including 116 communities across 20 projects globally.
