Rocky Mountaineer Unveils Moab Music Festival Package

x

Rocky Mountaineer is offering guests a whole new way to experience the Rockies.

The luxury tour operator is introducing the Sounds of the Southwest package for 2024. The all-new eight-night musical travel experience, taking place from Sept. 3 to 11, combines Rocky Mountaineer’s Rockies to the Red Rocks rail journey with the Moab Music Festival in Moab, Utah.

Originally limited to Canadian journeys, Rocky Mountaineer expanded into the U.S. in 2021, offering journeys between Denver, Colorado and Moab. This partnership with the Moab Music Festival is a new venture for the family-owned Canadian company, which has been operating since 1990.

“We are delighted to partner with the Moab Music Festival to create this bespoke package,” Violet Thumlert, vice president global sales for Rocky Mountaineer, told TMR. “It’s a unique opportunity for travelers to explore this beautiful region by luxury rail and attend world-class concerts in truly stunning locations.”

In total, guests will spend four days onboard the train, enjoying the Rocky Mountaineer’s renowned service and breathtaking views (guests retire to hotels for the evenings), and four days in Moab experiencing music festival programming.

The Denver round-trip itinerary includes eight hotel nights, four meals, professional tour guides, access to three Moab Music Festival concerts with receptions, a musical hike, live music on the train, and more.

“I’m thrilled the festival is partnering with this adventurous organization on the trip of a lifetime,” Moab Music Festival artistic director and violist, Leslie Tomkins, told TMR. “The musicians on the train will whet your appetite for what’s to come for the sonic treats travelers will experience at the concerts in Moab. Both organizations provide memorable once-in-a-lifetime experiences for their patrons and a pairing seemed like a natural fit.”

Tickets are now available for the Sounds of the Southwest package, and guests can save up to $1,000 USD per couple until April 30.

For more information, or to book, contact the Sales Center at 1-877-912-0912.

More about Sounds of the Southwest
The journey begins on Sept. 3 with an evening hotel stay in Denver, Colorado. In the morning, guests board the train heading to the resort town of Glenwood Springs. This first leg of the journey offers views of the region’s rugged canyons and the Colorado River.

On the third day (Sept. 5), the train travels from Glenwood Springs to Moab. Once they arrive, guests will have an opportunity for sightseeing before the evening’s Red Earth concert and reception.

Days four through six (Sept. 6 to 8), guests will stay in Moab to attend music festival programming. This includes a grotto concert in Canyonland’s National Park, a guided musical hike and concert, and a leisurely floating concert on the Colorado River.

Day seven (Sept. 9) begins with a private tour of Arches National Park before boarding the train back to Glenwood Springs. After another two days onboard the Rocky Mountaineer, guests will spend one final evening hotel stay in Denver, checking out the following morning on Sept. 11.
