Marriott this week celebrated the official opening of one of its most anticipated new properties this year—the Jim Corbett Marriott Resort & Spa in India.

The resort is set on the banks of the Kosi River in India’s Corbett National Forest, named after the Anglo-Indian hunter and naturalist. It is the first Marriott resort in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, an increasingly popular destination for nature lovers, and the 13th Marriott hotel in India.

The resort offers 99 rooms and suites, each with a view of the surrounding landscape. Accommodations range from a 312-square-foot deluxe guest room to the 678-square-foot executive suite.

For dining, the resort offers several on-site options, including the all-day eatery The Corbett Kitchen; a coffee shop called The Great Room, with floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the resort’s pool; and the Lanai Grill, its signature, smart-casual restaurant.

Also on-site are a kids club, an entertainment zone called The Jungle, a swimming pool, a fitness center, and two lawns.

A bigger draw for guests may be what’s off-site in Jim Corbett National Park. Marriott will offer jungle safaris for guests into the park, along with excursions to sites like the Garjia Temple, a Hindu shrine inside Jim Corbett.

In a message celebrating the opening, Ranju Alex, area vice president, South Asia, Marriott International, said the resort is targeting travelers “seeking adventure, relaxation, and a deep connection with nature.”
