Intrepid Opens New DMC in Copenhagen, Denmark

Intrepid this week celebrated the opening of a new destination management company (DMC) in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The DMC will serve as Intrepid’s base for its Northern Europe small-group tours, a segment it has targeted for expansion with plans to double its customer numbers from 4,000 to 8,000 over the next five years.

“Northern Europe is seeing incredible growth, fueled by the rise of ‘coolcations,’ growing interest in Nordic culture, breathtaking natural landscapes, and a strong commitment to sustainability. I’m excited to see our team take Intrepid’s presence in the region to the next level,” Kristijan Švajnzger, Intrepid’s Regional General Manager East Europe, Nordic and Caucasus, said.

The opening is part of Intrepid’s larger 2030 growth strategy, its plan to continue expanding its operations in Europe. That plan includes six new offices opening in the next five years and an ultimate goal of reaching 600,000 customers a year.

Intrepid CEO James Thornton, who was on hand to celebrate the opening, said, “By expanding our global footprint and having teams in more locations around the world, we can provide more of those locally led, transformational travel experiences for our travelers, who are also looking to explore lesser-known destinations with us.”

Last year, Christian Wolters, Intrepid’s general manager of North America marketing, told TMR that small group adventure travel is poised to grow globally, and Intrepid has the brand recognition to be a market leader in the segment.
