Alaska Airlines Launches New York-San Jose Nonstop

Alaska Airlines Launches New York-San Jose Nonstop

An Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-800 painted with the airline’s new tail logo and livery Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Seattle. This month, Alaska Airlines revealed the most substantial updates to its brand in a quarter century. Beginning Jan. 25, Alaska fliers will see the visual updates in new signage at the airport, an all-new airplane paint job, a refreshed website and mobile app, and more.

Alaska Airlines today kicks off its nonstop service between California’s Mineta San Jose International Airport and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.

The new route, which is another in Alaska Airlines’ latest series of growth, is now one of 15 daily flights that Alaska operates to John F. Kennedy from the West Coast. Others include flights from Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Portland, San Francisco, and Seattle.

In total, Alaska flies 38 daily flights to 19 nonstop destinations from San Jose.

“Bay Area flyers now have convenient, nonstop coast-to-coast flights, connecting guests between two of the largest business economies in the country and to Europe on our Global Partner airlines,” said Annabel Chang, Alaska Airlines’ vice president of the Bay Area. “JFK-bound guests traveling from San Jose today will be treated to a New York-themed breakfast, prizes and special send-off, all part of our award-winning customer service.”

Travelers on the route will be able to take advantage of the new Alaska Lounge at John F. Kennedy’s Terminal 7. The lounge, which opened at the end of April, offers espresso, fresh food, microbrews, wines, and signature cocktails.

Alaska flyers who have purchased a day pass or have lounge membership or First Class tickets can get access.

The flights will leave San Jose daily at 7:05 a.m. and return from New York at 4:59 p.m.
