The St. Regis Hotels and Resorts brand will soon make its debut in Costa Rica, after Marriott International announced a signing deal with developers at Solana PA, S.R.L.

Construction on St. Regis Papagayo will begin in July, and the luxury resort is expected to open in early 2027. Located on the Gulf of Papagayo in the Guanacaste region, the beachfront property will be just 25 minutes from Liberia International Airport.

“This extraordinary development underscores our continued commitment to expanding our luxury portfolio in key destinations across the Caribbean and Central America,” said Uriel Burak, Marriott International’s vice president of development for Caribbean and Latin America (CALA). “Costa Rica continues to experience growing demand for high-end travel and residential offerings, and we are proud to work with Solana PA, S.R.L. to bring the first St. Regis hotel and residences to Costa Rica.”

St. Regis Papagayo is expected to have 120 hotel rooms and 143 residential units, six restaurants, the St. Regis Library, multiple swimming pools, a spa, an exclusive beach club, and events spaces. Dining options will include Casa Club for casual bites, The Cliff for cuisine inspired by Japanese and Costa Rican influences, a Beach Club & Grill, and the signature St. Regis Bar & Speakeasy.

The announcement comes as luxury travel and hospitality is booming in Costa Rica; recent openings have included Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve and Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique. Marriott is also bringing is JW Marriott brand to Costa Rica, with the recent signing of JW Marriott All-Inclusive in Costa Elena, Costa Rica.
