La Liste Reveals Top 10 Hotels in the World for 2025

La Liste, primarily known for ranking the world’s top restaurants, has revealed its 2025 list of the best hotels on the planet. Using a proprietary algorithm that aggregates thousands of reviews, guest scores, and expert evaluations from more than 400 global sources, La Liste’s second-ever hotel ranking highlights 10 properties spanning Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

This year’s honorees include icons like London’s Savoy and the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, alongside architectural marvels like Il San Pietro di Positano and The Peninsula Shanghai. Experiential retreats get a nod too, with Rosewood Mayakoba in Mexico’s Riviera Maya being just one of two North American hotels to make the cut. Each hotel earned top marks not only for service and design but also for delivering deeply personalized stays.

“These establishments truly represent the pinnacle of global hospitality,” said Philippe Faure, president and founder of La Liste. “Each transcends the simple concept of accommodation to offer a transformative experience to its guests.”

The full La Liste ranking includes 1,000 hotels, but other highlights from the top 10 include the LVMH-owned Cheval Blanc; J.K. Place Capri, known for its breezy glamour and residential-style charm; and The Peninsula Chicago—the only U.S. hotel on the list—lauded for its seamless integration of automation.

Beyond the rankings, La Liste’s 2025 report also tracks macrotrends shaping the future of luxury lodging. Among them: the rise of regenerative hospitality; the shift from visible to invisible technology; and the continued blurring of lines between luxury, wellness, and sustainability. In La Liste’s words, hotels are no longer just places to stay, but rather “cultural landmarks, ecological laboratories, and creators of unforgettable experiences.”

La Liste also issued a suite of special awards recognizing excellence in innovation, sustainability, and design. Winners range from the desert-carved Desert Rock Resort in Saudi Arabia to the newly opened Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Costa Rica. The “Discovery Gem” category, meanwhile, highlighted under-the-radar properties like The Celestine in New Orleans and Kisawa Sanctuary in Mozambique.
