The International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) has awarded Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa at Indian Wells the Certified Autism Center (CAC) designation, making the property the latest destination with specialized training for Autism-inclusive accessible travel.
IBCCES offers autism and neurodiversity training and certification for the travel and leisure industry, including a Certified Autism Travel Professional (CATP) program for individuals and the CAC program for hotels, resorts, theme parks, and other tourism-focused destinations.
To achieve the CAC certification, staff at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa completed specialized training to better understand how to communicate with and assist neurodivergent guests. As part of the program, IBCCES also conducted an onsite review of the property for the purpose of creating a sensory guides and making recommendations to enhance accessibility.
“At Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa, we believe travel has the power to spark growth, connection, and self-discovery,” said Tim Pyne, general manager of Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa. “Achieving IBCCES certification reflects our commitment to creating an inclusive environment where individuals with autism and sensory sensitivities feel truly supported. By thoughtfully meeting their needs, we help open doors to new experiences, greater confidence, and lasting memories.”
Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa at Indian Wells joins the growing list of Autism-certified destinations in the Palm Springs area. In April, Palm Springs achieved the Certified Autism Destination (CAD) designation, indicating that there are multiple entertainment, recreation, and accommodation options in the area with the IBCCES Autism certification.
“Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa at Indian Wells’ designation as a Certified Autism Center™ proves their dedication and commitment to creating an environment where every person and family feels welcome,” said Myron Pincomb, IBCCES board chairman. “We look forward to seeing the continued impact this certification will have on both Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa and the Greater Palm Springs community.”
