Aurora Expeditions has added a new 11-day photography-focused voyage in Iceland and Greenland its 2027 portfolio, which is now available to book.
Iceland & East Greenland: Through the Lens is an expedition cruise that invites travelers to explore the captivating natural beauty of Dynjandi’s waterfall and cliffs, Greenland’s deep fjords, and the Arctic tundra’s rich wildlife—all with the support and guidance of some of the world’s leading photographers.
Aurora Expeditions created the itinerary in response to overwhelming demand for photography-based expeditions. Its previously announced 2027 Antarctica-bound journey, Antarctica: Through the Lens, has already sold out.
Departing July 31, 2026 from Reykjavik, Iceland & East Greenland: Through the Lens takes travelers aboard the Sylvia Earle, a 130-passenger expedition ship purpose-built for sustainable, small-group polar travel. The journey explores East Greenland’s Scoresbysund fjord system—the world’s largest—as well as Iceland’s Westfjords, with plenty of extended off-ship time for travelers to capture breathtaking shots.
Acclaimed professional photographers Scott Portelli, Peter Eastway, David Vargas, and Wayne Sorensen will be in attendance to assist guests, hosting workshops and in-field guidance.
Once considered a niche interest, the expedition cruise segment continues to grow. In Travel Market Report‘s Outlook on Expedition Cruise, 60% of travel advisors said they have sold at least one expedition cruise, driven by interest in bucket list destinations like Antarctica, the Galapagos Islands, and Iceland and Greenland.
Justin Ewin, Global Head of Product at Aurora Expeditions, shared his enthusiasm for the new offering, noting that the Arctic “Through the Lens” voyage is a natural extension of the incredible response to the company’s Antarctica photography expeditions.
“We’re thrilled to bring this concept to the Arctic through an equally immersive, expert-led experience,” Ewin said. “The Arctic offers one of the most dynamic and visually striking environments on Earth. This voyage is thoughtfully designed to help passengers connect with it on a deeper, more creative level, pairing awe-inspiring scenery with hands-on guidance from world-renowned photographers, creating an experience that not only elevates guests’ photography skills, but also fosters a more meaningful connection to this remarkable region.”
