Hurricane Erin, the first major storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, is continuing its path through the Caribbean on Tuesday morning. The storm is growing in size and strength as it moves through the western Atlantic.
As of 5 a.m. Tuesday, Erin was located southeast of the Bahamas and north of Cuba, moving northwest at 7 mph. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) said the storm should pick up speed today before turning northward on Wednesday, continuing on that track into Thursday. On this path, the storm is expected to pass to the east of the Bahamas on Tuesday night and then move over the eastern Atlantic, along the U.S. East Coast, on Wednesday and Thursday.
Erin is expected to bring heavy rainfall to the Turks and Caicos on Tuesday, and then to the Bahamas on Tuesday night. While the storm does not pose a large threat to U.S. travel, as it continues to grow in size, it is likely to cause some coastal flooding in the North Carolina Outer Banks, and other areas along the U.S. East Coast, Bermuda, and Atlantic Canada.
