One Year Later, Group Lauds Sandy Recovery
On the first anniversary of the devastating Hurricane Sandy, the Global Gateway Alliance congratulated the New York Port Authority and airlines that serve the New York area for quickly repairing damage to JFK, LaGuardia and Newark airports. The alliance called the combined Port Authority-airline effort “a remarkable display of partnership.” It noted that all three airports reopened within three days of the storm. “In spite of the setback, the NYC area airports reached a record 110 million passengers in 2012 and are on track for even more in 2013,” the alliance said. The alliance also praised the parties’ work developing strategies to protect against another storm of similar magnitude.
