Holland America will not sail the Feb. 1 Nieuw Amsterdam cruise because of an issue with one of the chip’s two azipod propulsion systems.
Instead of embarking on the seven-night Caribbean cruise, the ship will instead head to the Grand Bahama shipyard for repairs.
“All guests and their travel advisors have been notified of this cancellation, and we sincerely regret impacting their vacation plans,” Holland America said in a statement. “We sincerely regret impacting their vacation plans.”
Guests booked on the cancelled cruise have the option to move to any other 2020 winter or spring seven-night Caribbean or Mexico sailing in an equivalent stateroom and received a 100% future cruise credit. Guests can also move to a sailing in another region and apply cruise fare paid, and receive a 50% future cruise credit.
The ship will resume its regular schedule on Feb. 8.
