California’s Disneyland Resort has proposed a phased reopening beginning July 17.
Pending state and local government approvals, Disney’s flagship theme parks in Anaheim, California would reopen Disneyland and Disney California Adventure on July 17 – the park’s 65th anniversary.
The proposal includes a July 23 reopening for the Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Paradise Pier Hotel. There is no reopening date listed for the flagship Disneyland Hotel.
In the meantime, the shopping and dining district Downtown Disney will begin reopening on July 9.
Like Walt Disney World, capacity will be significantly limited “to comply with governmental requirements and promote physical distancing.” Attendance will be managed through a new theme park reservation system that will require all guests, including Annual Passholders, to obtain a reservation for park entry in advance. Details regarding the new systems will be released at a later date.
Parades, nighttime spectaculars, character meet and greets, and other experiences that draw large group gatherings will be temporarily suspended.
Plans to support physical distancing as well as increased cleaning measures, along with a number of other health and safety protocols, will be implemented as part of the phased reopening of the hotels and the Vacation Club.
Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida will begin its phased reopening starting July 11.
