Delta Air Lines is replacing its CRJ-700 aircraft with new Embraer jets on its routes to Aspen.
Starting in November, Delta will fly all of its SkyWest flights, which operate as Delta Connection, from Atlanta (ATL) and Los Angeles (LAX) to Aspen (ASE) on Embraer jets. The move allows for more cargo space, which is important for the skiers and snowboarders who are typically traveling to Aspen in the winter, and for improved baggage capacity and handling, which can be an issue at hubs like Aspen.
Delta also says that the jets are a “more comfortable ride” than the CRJ-700s, with modern interiors, larger windows and more personal space.
“Aspen is one of the most iconic ski destinations in the world, and we’re making sure your travel experience matches the magic of the mountains,” said Amy Martin – Vice President – Network Planning. “This aircraft change isn’t just about a new look, it’s about solving real challenges for our customers and enhancing every leg of the journey.”
The routes are growing in popularity for Delta, so much so that it boosted seat capacity to Aspen last year by 10%.
